Creativity and General Systems Theory

Abstract

Creativity is viewed within the context of systems theory. A system is any living organism, from an individual to an organization. This book looks at the connections between the various components of a system in the creative process. Learning about this process helps enhance future creative work. An organization can establish and maintain an environment which is conducive to creativity. In a straighforward manner, this book describes the elements contributing to creativity in an open system.

About the Author

Dr. William G. Covington, Jr. has been involved in the media since the age of 14. He has held a number of positions in media work over the years including: DJ, program director, station manager, journalist, TV talk show host, producer, consultant, sales representative, sales manager, researcher, and educator. Dr. Covington has taught at colleges and universities in Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, and Massachusetts. Presently he is on the faculty of Bridgewater State in Massachusetts. He holds a BA in Radio-Television Management, and an MA in Speech from Northeast Louisiana University. He has a PhD in Mass Communication, with an emphasis in media management from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
