Event description:

Welcome to the International Conference on "Plant Model Species: Fundamentals and Applications"! Model plants are extensively studied plant species chosen for the ease of investigating particular biological phenomena or for their value in biotechnology or agronomy. Plant models have played a significant role in understanding mechanisms and processes in the plant kingdom over the past 30 years. Such models are usually diploids, have few and small chromosomes, well developed genetics, rapid life cycles, easily transformed and have extensive sets of technical resources and databases curated by international resource centres. Genomes of model species share reasonable genetic synteny with key crop plants which facilitates the discovery of genes and association of genes with phenotypes. Currently, plant model species include Arabidopsis, Rice, Tomato, Lotus japonica, Poplar, Brachypodium, Tobacco, Rapeseed, moss and some others. International Conference "Plant Model Species: Fundame... Read more
